Summit Hand Rehabilitation was established in 2014 by two Kansas City area Certified Hand Therapists. We specialize in post-surgical outpatient care of patients as well as treatment of acute and chronic injuries for a variety of upper extremity conditions. We strive to provide education to our patients regarding their injury and answer any questions while offering guidance throughout the course of their rehabilitation.

Deanna Smith OTR/L, CHT

Deanna graduated from the University of Kansas in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and has worked exclusively in outpatient rehabilitation since that time. In 2005, she obtained her CHT certification designating a sub-specialty in rehabilitation of the hand and upper extremity. Her primary focus in practice is providing individualized splinting and therapy services for the post-surgical client as well as acute and chronic injuries. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, fishing, and dog mushing sports.

Melanie Jackson MOTR/L, CHT

Melanie graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2006 and obtained her Certified Hand Therapist Credential in 2012. She has worked in outpatient therapy since graduating from KU with a special focus in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation for persons of all ages. Melanie is a dedicated sports fan for all of our local teams but will always love the Jayhawks the most. She enjoys spending time outdoors, doing crafty projects, cooking and always seems to be planning her next tropical vacation.
